Overview:

We have worked with our customers in the educational sector for a number of years now, we love seeing new designs they send over to us and being given the opportunity to provide furniture for schools is very rewarding. The concepts are always so bright, fun and captivating.

We were given the task of manufacturing a Two Storey Treehouse including a lot of detail and different tree features.

The Brief:

  • To follow the customer’s drawings based on the Two Storey Tree House
  • To manufacture and build the item as requested

The Challenge:

Once we receive the spec sheet of the product our project manager, Jordan Kennedy determines how we run the manufacturing process for the task.

In order for us to send the drawings from IMOS IX to our machines we need full autonomy of the design. The original design is recreated in our software in-house by our CAD Technicians, managed by Jordan.

There are a lot of individual details to this job which require different manufacturing techniques. For example, the leaves are routered out of plain MDF board by hand – using a Makita router.

They are then taken to our Spray Machine department where Andy will spray them the requested colour. The colouring is always the same for our educational customers, so we need to ensure we always follow their brand guidelines.

Our busiest time within the education sector is Summer, due to the high demand of new furniture after the summer holidays.

With most schools closed for 6 weeks, its prime opportunity to take advantage of free space and transform classrooms/libraries.

Overall features and materials used:

  • Panelco H1180 18mm MFC
  • Halifax Oak H1180/edging MFC

Project Management:

Jordan has been managing the educational sector since he started at Retail Furniture in March 2022. Within a short space of time he has taken full control of the department and works hard making sure the pieces succeed their deadline.

Delivery:

The items are in our goods out area as soon as they have been wrapped and secured. Jordan will inform our customers that their item is ready to collect.

A delivery note is drawn up and within a few days the items are picked up and heading to their destination.

Sustainability:

Did you know we are FSC Certified? We’re committed to protecting the environment and by doing this we ensure that we follow the FSC guidelines.

By being a part of this, it means that the suppliers we buy the material off also follow these FSC guidelines.

Why we follow the Chain of Custody?

FSC Chain of Custody certification tracks the FSC certified material through the production processes from managed forest all the way to end user allowing a “hand on heart” approach to the sustainable credentials of the products we produce, confident that they are genuinely FSC certified.
