The start of a brand new Manufacturing company located in Oakengates, Telford.
Retail Furniture Ltd was formed by two highly experienced Joiners, both wanting to branch out into the manufacturing world soon to become joint business owners. Working 14 hour days, 7 days a week both Directors manufactured everything manually.
Neil states “The production process has greatly developed within 20 years. Our current range of high-specification machinery and CAD design helps us greatly in achieving exceptional joinery. Back in 2002, we worked by hand creating bespoke work for customers. By working long hours, we succeeded in hitting every deadline”
First Machines Purchased – Wadkin Planer/Thicknesser, Wadkin Spindle Moulder, Altendorf Panel Saw plus installation of Extraction.
After 18 months at our previous location, we moved to a larger unit space on Stafford Park where we spent 3 years continuing to build our foundations and reputation for the company. These are best known as “the good days” – with a growing team Retail Furniture was rapidly becoming well known within the manufacturing industry.
With the Convenience Retail sector still dominating 50% of the business, our work from other sectors such as: Hospitality, Leisure and Commercial quickly progressed. By the time we knew it, we were forming relations with new, loyal customers. Most who are still with us today.
Bigger and better! Our 3-year success from working hard in Stafford Park meant that our work load was becoming more demanding – it was time to explore larger location options. We came across the 50,000sqft premises in Halesfield and snapped it up right away.
During our 16 years here we have had some wonderful times and overcome some difficult challenges. In 2008 and 2009 the financial crisis led to a global recession, the UK suffered a severe downturn which meant businesses suffered dramatically and spiralled into liquidation. Fortunately for us Retail Furniture Ltd survived and continued to produce bespoke furniture for the Retail, Leisure, Commercial, Educational and Health industries.
We produce 100% British Made Goods. From lowering carbon emissions to reducing landfill waste by 90%, we strive to run an environmentally friendly business.

Retail Furniture’s future is looking bright! Our Managing Director reveals that “We would love to expand our capacity, taking on more units and making them more specific to the sectors we work with. It’s a natural and necessary development for the company”.
It’s not just the business that has changed, Retail Furniture’s brand identity has developed throughout the years. After having two previous logo’s we have finally settled on our latest logo design, font and signature colour. With a strong brand identity, customers are much more likely to remember the business. It’s really important to remain firmly in the mind of our current and potential customers, so a strong digital media and print presence will be able to promote our company to a larger distribution.
