Sustainability & recycling

We have a number of systems, technologies and requirements in place to ensure that our services are sustainable.

At Retail Furniture we take our responsibilities to the environment very seriously. We believe that sustainability goes hand in hand with recycling and have invested over £140,000 in a state of the art extraction and wood burning system.

This allows us to fully heat our factory throughout the winter months by maintaining everything at an ambient temperature 24 hours a day 7 days per week. As well as keeping our team happy this temperature prolongs the life of our materials and equipment. With these innovations we have reduced our landfill waste by 90%. To add to our collection – in February 2021 we invested in a Cardboard Recycling Baler.

When buying new equipment, we also look to keep our carbon emissions low. Our Homag Bargstadt handling system is specifically designed to not use any electricity whilst in standby. We also ask that all of our suppliers are affiliated members of the Forestry Stewardship Council® (FSC®). So if you are looking for furniture crafted from renewable sources, you can rest assured that we take every possible step to ensure the products we provide will have the minimum impact on the environment.

Another environmental service we offer is counter removal and disposal. We will collect your old furniture and dispose of it through our sustainable burning system – saving you a job and protecting the environment at the same time.
